Bryan Whitehurst

Bryan became the second generation to join the family business when in high school and college he began learning the trade by working summers in the field. After completing his undergraduate degree at James Madison University in 2000, Bryan started working full-time estimating and project managing. In 2003 Bryan was announced Vice-President, and by 2010 he became President.

Terri Allen

Terri Allen is the project manager assistant. She has been with Southeastern Mechanical for nine years and has worked in the construction field for more than 20 years. She spent 21 years in the Marine Corps and retired here in Virginia.

Ricky Davis

As a project manager, Ricky is a team member responsible for electrical estimating and project management for our electrical projects. He is also responsible for large material procurement such as lighting packages, gear packages, etc. He works with our field Superintendents for project scheduling, labor needs, and coordination with our subcontractors as well as the GC’s and their other subcontractors.

William (Bill) Carley

Bill came to Southeastern Mechanical, Inc. in 1988 as a third-year plumbing apprentice. He is now one of two remaining employees that started when the company was founded.

While working with some of the best plumbers and pipefitters in the tidewater area, he gained valuable skill sets to help him as his career progressed.

With his 33 years of experience, the respect of employees, contractors, and owners he has earned the position of Vice President that he currently holds.

Christopher Permito

Primary responsibilities; the day-to-day operation of the Southeastern Mechanical Inc. Service Division, HVAC repair Service, Special Projects, Small Jobs, and installation of new commercial and industrial equipment. Preventative maintenance contracts and service agreements, All HVAC equipment and controls, sales, and service. Chris has spent more than 40 years in the commercial/industrial construction and services industry in various roles including two major manufactures of commercial and industrial equipment.

Shannon Coker

Shannon Coker joined the SMI team in 2021 and is the Financial Administrator.

She is a graduate of Old Dominion University and brings with her over 18 years of management experience.

Carie Carley

Carie Carley joined the Southeastern Mechanical, Inc. Leadership Team in 2018 as the Human Resources Representative, Safety and Training Coordinator with 14 years of experience.

Carie is responsible for Interviewing potential candidates, hiring, and onboarding new employees. She also coordinates reviews, meetings, administers benefits, and enforces company policies and practices amongst other things.

Justin Sanford

Justin Sanford manages projects from roof-top HVAC equipment replacements to multi-story complete mechanical/plumbing systems from the ground up. He handles all material, equipment, scheduling, estimating, and manpower for each project he oversees. He started in the field in 2003 as a helper, quickly realized that this was the path he wanted to take, and joined the Plumbing Apprenticeship program followed by the HVAC apprenticeship. He started running work and closing out projects in 2012 and was promoted to Project Manager in 2018.

Nathan Rhoades

As Vice President, Nathan is responsible for all operations of the Electrical Division here at SMI.
