Southeastern Mechanical, Inc. has experience in Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and HVAC system installations in new and renovated commercial buildings as well as commercial HVAC preventative maintenance and service.
From maintenance and repairs to diagnostics and installations, our trained technicians are equipped to keep your building safe, comfortable, and energy efficient.
We also offer preventative maintenance agreements to help ensure your equipment is working correctly to maintain peak efficiency, extend the life of your building systems and prevent utility overpayment.
Special Projects
Our special projects group can handle MEP improvement work, design/build retrofit or additions, and equipment upgrades or replacements.

Southeastern Mechanical, Inc. considers itself one of the industry leaders in Design/Build. With many years of experience both in construction and engineering, our staff has completed millions of square feet of Design/Build projects. This is our preferred way of doing business because we view it as a win/win situation and the best construction delivery method for the Owner.
Design/Assist
Design/Assist
Oftentimes, the owner has hired a design team but is also looking for contractor feedback. SMI has extensive experience in Design/Assist; where the owner’s design team has begun their work, but it is not 100% complete. This method of construction can be effective when the owner is under tight budget constraints and a fast-track schedule. SMI has an extensive array of experience in Plan/Spec work in all markets. This is the more traditional Design/Bid/Build approach. Incorporated in October of 1988 by Mark S. Whitehurst, mostly with an engineering background, Mr. Whitehurst saw an opportunity for growth in mechanical contracting. Since then, our company still enforces what we feel has made us a success over the years, trust, quality, loyalty, and perseverance.
In June of 2010, Bryan M. Whitehurst was announced President and has continued the legacy his father built.
Over the years, we have built relationships with our customers, vendors, subcontractors, and our employees, who we are proud to call our partners.

Apprenticeship Sponsor & Tuition Assistance
We offer an apprenticeship program through Virginia Works to our employees that are interested in a career in one of the following trades: Plumbing, Electrical and HVAC.
The apprenticeship is a 4 year program with classroom instruction and on the job training that upon completion the student will be able to take the Journeyman’s certification exam.
